Yesterday I went to Jacks on Queen in Elmvale, Ontario and scored some free comic books during Free Comic Book Day. I'm still really new to comics and don't really know what I like, so picked up all the ones that I thought might interest me. And because I'm spending lots of time in nature this month, I read some of them outside in the sunshine. Wonderful.

  1. Cool beans. It was the same holiday, here. Reading in the sunshine is the best. Well, and writing in the sunshine, or eating, gardening and all that fun stuff.

    1. It is all the best. It is even warmer today. A little cloudy but soooo warm. It is like a summer day out there! woot!

    2. Very cool.

Nice here today too. Waiting for Frankenberry to get home. Chicken and Waffles tonight. What's on the menu for you two?

    3. We had pork chops, whipped potatoes, and steamed veggies. Very nice.

  2. Strangely I did not see the Secret Wars one. I picked up an Avengers freebie. I do love reading comics myself.

    1. I think I got there too late for anything Avengers - it is so popular. I wonder if different stores order different comics to give out? It is neat event, that is for sure.

    2. I think the selection is pretty much the same- the various companies decide what they'll be sending out for this sort of thing to each store. Most of it's new material, but there are some reprint things.

    3. That's neat to know. This was my first time and I was impressed with the variety of comics.

  3. So jealous - we missed it! The kids had dance class and then we had an appointment. By the time we got to the shop, they were all gone. I was bummed, but you should've seen the kids. We even drove down to another store in Aurora. Nothing sadder than empty handed kids on Free Comic Book Day. :(

How are you liking what you picked up?

    1. I'm pretty new to comic books, so I like how the free comics are kinda samples of what I could like. I'm digging them.

If you want to drive for an hour next year, come up to Elmvale. It is really small town and I went over at 1:00pm and there were stacks of lots of comics (I didn't pick up five or six of the comics they had and still got all the ones pictured). But free comic book day probably isn't as free if you have to drive for an hour.
