Commander Chris Hadfield shared this photo on Twitter recently. There is something about people walking around in space with Earth below that just blows my mind. I made this photo my desktop and the bright blue brings me a lot of joy when I turn on my computer.

If you want to lose a few days looking though NASA photos, check out and search the NASA gallery (where this photo is from). NASA photos are generally copyright free, check out their guidelines for photo use for more information.

My cat is amazing at hunting. Mice, moths, cheese, flashlight beams, hair elastics - she knows when something new has entered the environment and she acts accordingly.

Not only is Gary good at hunting, she really likes it, and in the case of mice, she really, really likes it. To her, a caught mouse is just something she can release and chase after again. It is great fun for her, but we see it as kinda cruel, so we try to rescue the mouse and take it outside.

In this photo we have successfully captured the mouse - but I couldn't resist taking this picture before releasing him back into the wild.

We stayed at a cottage for a night last week and got to enjoy a quiet sunset over the water. This is definitely summer at its best.

Somehow this photo was taken five years ago. Somehow this precious little baby is now five years old. How did this happen!?! This is my niece Liz and she is pretty amazing. This is a photo of her wondering what the hell just happened, as she is only about three hours old. Now she is five. I don't remember five years passing. And I especially don't remember being five years older. Maybe there is some sort of time distortion thing happening. I will look into it.

However it may have happened, I'm wishing this sweet little girl a wonderful 5th birthday!

Here is a sunset photo my brother Dave took at my brother Tommy's farm last fall. Neat how a photo of nature can make you think about family.

Everything is a Photo Opportunity is a showcase of awesome photos. Anything that has caught my eye, either with my camera in hand, or that I found surfing the web.

A few summers ago a hot air balloon landed near my brother's farm. I've always loved hot air balloons. I remember going to a hot air balloon festival when I was a kid and seeing so many different colours and shapes in the sky. Very beautiful.

It is hard to believe that my last trip to Niagara Falls was over five years ago.  My bro and I went in early February 2006, which was a great time to go, as there were hardly any tourists and we felt like we owned the place.  It was a little cold and misty, but that only added to the fun!  That trip was my first time up the Skylon Tower and I have to say the view of the falls was definitely worth the price of admission.  This photo was taken from the top of the Skylon Tower and pictures the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls.  Even in photos, I still find the view incredible!

I love this photo.  I think I scooped it from my grandparents collection one day because I thought it was so great.  It is clearly snowing like a bastard, but Sunshine is just around the corner.  What an amazing (and funny) message.  I keep this photo framed beside my desk as a comical reminder that even if it is snowing (literally or metaphorically) just hold on, because you're bound to run into Sunshine soon enough.  It could even be as close as a 1/4 mile away!

This isn't exactly a photo, but this is the image that greeted me when I went to the knitting blog Rhythm of the Needles this morning.  I won a book!  How fantastic!  I won "It Itches" and it is a humorous book for knitters. Many thanks to Joanne at Rhythm of the Needles for this fun contest! :)

If I'm working on a crafty project, sorting papers into piles, or folding laundry, I should always expect Gary to turn up and sleep on top of whatever it is I'm working on.  It's kinda her thing.  What's mine is hers, right?

The only thing better than turkey dinner is turkey leftovers!

This week's photo is of an awesome turkey club sandwich with homemade french fries on the side (drenched in turkey gravy).  YUM.

This is a lovely photo taken right next door of an owl friend who came for day visits a few winters ago.  I was heavy into Harry Potter when this guy started stopping by, so I thought for sure I would be getting a letter from Hogwarts.  We haven't seen him yet this winter, but hopefully he comes back... with my invitation to wizarding school!

My dad always told me that "everything is a photo opportunity," so always have your camera with you and always be ready to take photos.  Growing up with such a photo savvy dad, adult me is obsessed with photos.  Once on a weekend trip to Niagara Falls I took 144 photos - with a film camera.  So you can imagine how many I take now that I'm not limited by the cost of processing film.

Since I am thoroughly obsessed with photos, I am starting a new feature here at My Adorable Small Town Life where I showcase some of my favourite photos with you.  They might be photos I've taken, my brother has taken (he is equally obsessed with photography - and has a better camera!), neat photos from the past, or a photo that has caught my eye on a web.

We'll start with one of my favourite photos, taken while I was on vacation in Newfoundland back in 2005.  If you ever have the chance, get your ass to Newfoundland!
