We got to spend a night at a cottage in Victoria Harbour last week, as the newlyweds went back to Vancouver a few days before their two week rental was up. It was a total win for us and super relaxing.
The cottage had a full kitchen (and a mostly full fridge) so John pan fried some pork buttons with some spices and sauteed fresh mushrooms. The mushrooms were packed with flavour - I think I could have eaten a whole pan of just them. On the side we had some steamed carrots and broccoli and a big scoop of leftover wedding potato salad (which still tasted amazing, as this was before I ate waaaayyyy too much of it).

Looks really good!! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was tasty! :)
DeleteI love mushrooms. And carrots. What are pork buttons?
ReplyDeleteI am starting my day late today and drinking a lime, apple, water, honey, ginger wake up drink. Holy cow, it's good.
Pork buttons are like ribs but aren't actually from the rib part. Maybe they are like rib ends? They come in about 6 inch strips and you have to eat around button-shaped bones. We love them because you can get a bag of them for $5 and they combine the awesome flavour of a pork chop with the fun of a chicken wing.
DeleteYour morning drink sounds energizing. I am drinking some lime squeezed into water - so good too! :)
Ohh, that does sound good. I've been buying pork butt lately and really enjoy it. It's cheaper at the market but with a little work, it's rather tasty.
DeleteI know, eh? Why are lime so good? I dunno. But they are.
Limes are great! My dad peels them and eats the sections like an orange. He loves them!
DeleteI have never tried that. I will give it a go, because Tim bought me a bunch of them yesterday.
DeleteI've done it a few times...pretty intense but also amazing! :)
DeleteI think in the states (southern anyway), we do call them rib-ends. I've never tried them, but I have a friend who raves about them. and after I read this post yesterday, I keep thinking about that meal as Sunday's dinner. That is total comfort food to me.
ReplyDeleteJen, is Victoria Harbor near/part of Victoria Island?
This meal totally tastes like comfort food for me too.
DeleteVictoria Harbour is actually in Ontario, near the Midland/Penetanguishene area.
