I'm Canadian, so it is my birthright to comment/discuss at length/complain/ about the weather.
I braved the outdoors again today to document the real life blizzard we are experiencing. I was out for less than 10 minutes, as it was too cold to be out much longer. The weather network puts the wind gusts at 69km/hr, and the air it was throwing at me felt like -25°C (that is really cold). My gloved fingers were very unhappy.
We keep our car under a car port, but it got snow covered anyway.
Giant snow pile from having the driveway cleared (with a tractor!)
Our road looking West.
Again, looking East.
Snow is starting to weigh down the trees.
Neighbour's (Grandma's) drifted doorway. It had already been dug out once this morning.
Even with my high boots I got covered in snow. It was up to my knees. I'm a tall girl, so up to my knees in big boots is a little over 2 feet. I wasn't even in the deepest part of the snow.
The old swing set is missing the bottom half.
Definitely snow covered. Time to get back inside.

Yikes!
ReplyDeleteIt's nuts out there!
DeleteLove these pictures. To buuuurrrrr outside for sure. Last night we almost lost our pipes and even today, parts of the inside doors and windows are frozen or frosted.
ReplyDeleteHello Bumble.
It is a great day to be inside under blankies. All the roads around us are closed. It is wild out there.
DeleteI'm always amazed when people that don't need to be on the road, are driving, getting stuck and causing more problems. I don't get that, and I don't get when people who are very sick, show up to the office for the day, either.
DeleteI don't get it either. Unless it was an emergency, I don't see any reason why I would be out on the road in white outs. And if it was an emergency, hopefully the emergency vehicle would be driving and not me! It is too scary. Of all the jobs I've had, there wasn't one where it was essential that I be there. The place could still run without me, especially if it was too messy to drive or if I was sick. I find in every workplace there is always someone who comes in super sick and then gets everyone else sick. Not cool.
DeleteNot cool at all. Agreed.
DeleteWhen I was working the pizza shoppe, we had a really bad snow day and Tim called me from work and said he was out and he didn't want me to work that night. I was closing. Said the roads were horrible and it's not worth the little pay.
I called and the owner was pissed at me for not coming in. Mind you, every other shoppe, including government offices in town, had all shut their doors.
Got some bunns proving for tonight's supper. Making some pasta and chicken meats balls. Yummy stuff. What are you guys having?
Some people are just stubborn I think. That employer can be mad all they want - good for you for staying out of a wintery mess. Totally not worth it.
DeleteI made some buns too yesterday. Had them with some turkey burgers John made. We are having leftovers tonight and I'm making scalloped potatoes to go with it. Yum.
Love leftovers. Love saving money too.
DeleteHave you tried the mats yet?
No not yet. The options up here are limited, so I have to either order from Amazon or go to Barrie to find them. And they are about $30 up here so I'm still thinking about it.
DeleteOuch. 30 I hope for at least two? I got mine on Amazon using points. Otherwise, I would not have gotten them. Three bucks total, with tax for both, after using our points.

Delete3 bucks I would totally do it. The Silpat one is $25+tax ($3.25) on our amazon for the 11X16 one.
DeleteThat's so high. Last night and over the weekend, I did a few bread filled bakes with no baking paper and no mat. Worked great.
DeleteThe mat isn't supposed to retain a smell but I can still smell the pepperoni and melted cheese.
That is too bad. I like pepperoni and cheese, but might put me off if I wanted to use the mat for cookies.
DeleteWe have both cold and snow. I generally like one or the other. :) Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing this weather is good for is knitting in a comfy chair by a roaring fire.
ReplyDeleteI almost cried when i realise it was time to go pick Beege up from school and I still hadn't completely thawed since picking Kee up at lunch time. :(
I bet! I was only out for a few minutes and my fingers were freezing.
